i am looking for a few hundred base metal prong settings, preferably
around 3mm round. i want to make some sculpture!
anyone know the names of any of the costume jewelry suppliers?

thunderbird jewelers supply, eloxite corp. ( really base !- like
zinc tin and probably lead plated withthe thinnest coating
imaginable!!), land of odds, and oriental trading co. all have base
metal prong findings…also rio has a strip of 3mm settings ( i
believe there are 21 or 22 to the strip) they may diversify your
idea.&and the more weight you buy in.925 the cheaper it gets- from
most suppliers…if you want to buy bulk and even cheaper but don’t
mind waiting two weeks to get the package, on Indiamart.com you can
post a buy order, and you’ll get a myriad of suppliers in all types
of metals, really inexpensively…I find bulk buying from overseas
usually saves a lot in comparisson to any of the above…but if you
need it quick, then try within the US, or Canada,. here are a few to
check out: hope one turns up what you need…R

Joanna, do they have to be prong settings? Indian Jewelers Supply has
a nice range of base metal (red brass; nickel-silver) bezel cups that
are very affordable and fun to use. Of course, they generally require
soldering in place, but maybe you’ll come up with some non-soldered
variations.
