Hi
I am trying to identify some family heirlooms said to be made by Charles Lolama. We lived in Scottsdale in the 50s. I was told that my dad who worked at Taliesin west with Frank Lloyd Wright bought pieces for our Mom from Charles. A niece is trying to find the provenance of a piece she inherited. See pics. Wondering if someone can steer me in the right direction to help with authentication and insurance value?

If your goal is to get an insurance value, then you’re going to have to find someone who specializes in Southwest Indigenous jewelry appraisals. Unfortunately, I used to know a Santa Fe gallery owner who did this, but he retired and I’ve lost track of him.
If I were you, I might reach out to the curator at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. The Heard Museum is famous for focusing on Native American art, with a special emphasis on contemporary Native American art. They are one of the biggest Native American art museums in the US.
They probably don’t do appraisals, but I’ll bet they have someone they can recommend.
Also, a quick google search shows there are a bunch of galleries that sell Charles Loloma jewelry. I’ll bet you can find someone to do an insurance appraisal through a gallery that sells Charles Loloma jewelry.
I hope that helps a bit!
Jeff
Thanks Jeff.
It does help.
