Generally with filters and non-toxic particulate, the time to change
a filter is when the flow is obstructed. If you can still breathe
easily with the filter on, and there is no leakage in, the
particulate in the filter is not a problem. If the particulate has
some toxic qualities then the filter should be designed to stop the
toxicity, usually with absorption.
