Greetings savvy list members, I’ve checked Rio Grande, Hoover &
Strong, and a few different shows sources and have not found what I
need. I’m looking for very fine, but good quality and durable,
sterling silver chain. Simple link , like a cable chain or something
similiar. Most I have found have been quite delicate, and only
available as finished necklaces with clasps attached. Does anyone
have a good chain findings source they wouldn’t mind sharing? Also, I
need to a design a necklace in White gold that I normally produce in
sterling silver. The piece requires a snake chain. So, I am also in
need of a white gold chain source, if one exists. Thanks for any
recommendations.

I’ve been waiting for a catalog from them since summer of last year!
Gee, I guess that ordering over $500.00 worth of stuff isn’t enough
to get one! I have requested their tool catalog, their precious
metal catalog multiple times.

Not long ago, I checked out a web site source after seeing a
recommendation for the company on Orchid. I found a product I was
interested in but had questions about it and sent an e-mail with the
questions. A month later I had not received a response. I sent
another e-mail which included a copy of the first one and added, “I
found out about your company on the Orchid List where I was led to
expect good service. If this is an example of your good service,
perhaps I should let the whole list know about it.”
The next day I had a reply, an apology and an offer for a free sample
of the product. Orchid really does rule!

I hate to get into vendor bashing, but I won’t ever call them again.
I wrote them a pointed email message saying that it’s a shame that
they spend so much money on advertising and marketing only to fall on
their faces when it comes time to deliver. The “customer service”
person I was dealing was downright rude, and basically told me to
figure it out myself when I was asking questions about tubing stock.
That’s one reason I still work with Rio Grande extensively. Their
customer service is excellent and they have a wide selection of most
of the things I need. I might be able to save a little by shopping
around, but having a “one stop shop” has it’s advantages.
As fasr as metalliferous goes they are great but the catalogs cost $4
each. You would think that they would throw it in with a big order.
Also Herco in SanFrancisco for fine Italian chains in all metals and
also MS company in Mass. there is also the Rhode Island Chain
company. Alot of good manufacturers are based in RI. Check it out!
Rio Grande also sells chain in bulk as dose Fire Mountain Gems.
Better yet their catalogs are free. The E-mails are www.riogrande.com/ and www.firemountaingems. com. You can also try an
internet seach using ‘chains in bulk’ or something like that. Good

Allison - Are you familiar with Kamal Trading Co.? They are in
Aneheim,CA. tel: 714. 236-0567, fx: 714. 828-0567. They specialize in
findings and had a nice selection of ss chain by the foot in a wide
variety from delicate to massive. I think they also carry 14k YG
chain.
Alison, You should check out Indian Jeweler’s Supply for sturdy,
small diameter sterling chains. I string all my braclets on their
1mm diameter (modified box) chain - they also have curb and cable.
