Care of my new mill

Hi All,

My new rolling has finally arrived and the instructions were sparse.
What exactly kind of oil or grease should I buy to keep the rollers
from rusting. Is there anything else I should know?

Thanks.

Hello Betty,

There were a number of discussions late last year about this very
same topic. I’m sure the others will have suggestions too, and there
are more relevant threads in the Archives, but those below will also
offer some info to get you started:

Betty, compress 2 large sponges between rollers and frame on top and
the bottom of your of your mill wetting them first with oil of your
choice, this way you keep rollers lightly oiled and it will keep
flats and after while, grooves free of chips /sponge has to shape
itself/.

Please be careful with new sponges. When they come directly out of
the package they seem to have something in them that will rust
steel. That is my experience. It could have been just the brand of
sponge that I used.
