Does anyone have any exprience or knowledge regarding the making of
cameos? ( shell or stone) What sort of machinery is used? We were
talking about it at work today, and I thought it would be a good
question to ask on the Orchid list! Would CAD/CAM work?

jesse - the same machinery that is used for any type of lapidary
engraving/carving: a foredom/dremel machine with diamond burs of
various configurations. i used diamond coated burs to establish the
shapes used the most before investing in the more expensive sintered
burs. there are several books on cameo carving available plus back
issues of lapidary journal has carving instructions for cameos.
