[Call for Entry] Jewelry + Objects 2011 Exhibition

You are cordially invited to participate in Jewelry + Objects 2011

The Exhibition: A competitive exhibition promoting excellence in the
field of metalsmithing sponsored by the Michigan Silversmiths Guild
(MSG) In Collaboration with the ALDEN B. DOW MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND
ART OF THE MIDLAND CENTER FOR THE ARTS (MCFTA).

The Juror: Marilyn da Silva’s work is based on telling stories
through imagery and representational elements. Her trademark surface
treatment of gesso and colored pencil creates a rich palette for her
sculpture and wearable pieces. Her work has been displayed nationally
and internationally, including at the Victoria and Albert Museum in
London and the National Gallery of Australia. She is represented in
public and private collections. Also, she has been featured in
numerous books, magazines and catalogues. She was invited to be
"Master Metalsmith 1999-94 by the National Ornamental Metal Museum in
Memphis, Tennessee. She recently received the honor of being selected
as a fellow of the American Craft Council.

Marilyn da Silva is Professor and Program Chair of the Jewelry/Metal
Arts Department at the California college of the Arts in Oakland
where she has been since 1987. Before moving to California, she
taught from 1978-87 at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She
earned her MFA in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing at Indiana
University, Bloomington, Indiana and her BS in Art Education at
Bowling Green State University.

Catalog: We will produce an exhibition catalog featuring the

Entries: All works must be original, completed within the last 3
years and not previously exhibited in this exhibit. Work produced in
a school curriculum is eligible. Entrants must be current members of
MSG. Artists may submit up to 3 entries for $35. New or renewing
members may include membership form and payment with entry.
Membership forms can be found as a PDF of the MSG website. Please
indicate a permanent address for return of your work.

Awards: Presenting over $1,000 in awards from our sponsors and the
MSG.
