Bur for carving seat for thin cabochon

Since I’ve been playing with flush setting small stones, I got to think about doing something sort of similar with some quite small and thin rosecut cabs I have. For this I think I would need a bur with a flat end, maybe like the one in the link? Drilling holes for faceted stones is pretty straightforward but something wider and shallower, I’m not sure. I don’t know if anyone even does this. Any advice? Thank you.

Try taking an old round burr and grinding it down to the widest diameter and see if that will do what you want to do. I use these to clean up extra solder on the inside of a bezel where it meets the back plate. Others may have better ideas…Rob
