Bronze in the pickle

The usual sculpture bronze alloy, known to its friends as “Everdur”
or “Herculoy”, is a silicon bronze, i.e. uses silicon instead of tin.
(This increases corrosion resistance and weldability, but makes the
metal more slippery, and therefore harder to file and grind.) I
pickle this alloy frequently, in the same jar of Sparex that I use
for silver, and I’ve never seen anything that looked like
contamination.
