"Black" Topaz

Has anyone heard of any variety of topaz that is BLACK? Trying to
find a good luck healing stone for individual in India.

Hello Rugbeebum

I have never heard of Black Topaz, though having done quite a lot of
work with people in the metaphysics you might actually be looking for
Black Tourmaline also called Schorl. This stone is both a healing
stone and protector from negative energy.

For a good luck/healing stone I would normally suggest green
Jade/Jadeite as it is used extensively in China and many other
Oriental countries. Jadeite is usually of course preferred but
budgets often mean using B.C. Jade also known as Nephrite Jade.

Hope this helps

First thing that came to my mind was “Smoky” Topaz, more correctly
known as Irradiated Quartz

Knowing full well the dire consequences of making a flat statement
such as one which would begin with “there is no such thing as”, on
this list, nonetheless I will do so now. There is no such thing as
natural black topaz! There is however a black tourmaline which is
found in crystalline form known as “schorl”. Perhaps the person has
confused topaz with tourmaline?

Just curious but if your not sure it exists how do you know that
it’s good luck and a healing stone?

I have seem some clear Topaz with what looks like Mica inclusions
that make the stone look black but no Black Topaz per say.

Just for the record, the 1st ‘Smoky Topaz’ was natural smoky quartz.
Today some of it may be irradiated. Many times irradiated quartz is
much darker or even black.
