Black Max and Food Safety

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to use Rio’s Black Max (which
contains tellurium oxide and hydrochloric acid)on a sterling fork,
spoon or olive pick. I would like to use the oxidizing agent on such
implements but am concerned about food contact. Most of the
blackened areas are above the usual contact points, but it is
possible that food could touch these areas (especially the olive
picks). If this is a problem, are there any alternatives?
