Best CAD program

Hi, I want to know in the world of jewelry design what is best when
comparing Matrix and 3design software

Thank you…

Farbod, I would be prejudiced in this decision so I will let others
chime in. But, I will say one thing, which ever you choose it is
always a good idea to stay with the program chosen. You see, we teach
Matrix and have been for over 12 years so I tend to go in that
direction. I suggest you do your utmost research and get many
opinions and reviews.

I would have to pick matrix. They have been around longer and are
heavily back.

Thank you

That is a very subjective question.

I can tell you that the most popular software for jewelry design is
Rhino.

Rhino is a very open platform, and as a result there are thousands
of plugins (Matrix is a Rhino plugin, 3Design is not). There are
other plugins some prefer, like RhinoRing or RhinoGold. Some prefer
them because of their functionality, while others are more agreeable
to their price.

Rhino offers a fully functional trial version, as do most of their
plugins do, like RhinoRing. Matrix and 3Design do not offer a trial
version.

I encourage you to sign up at 3dcadjewelry.com to see what people
are using and the models they are able to produce. There is also a
lot of getting started materials.

Well Matrix (Gemvision) does offer a trial version if you are a
student with an educational partner. It does cost $295 domestic or
$345 international but is fully functional for 6 months not just 60
days and 25 saves as with other packages. at least from us.

Huh, I had no idea. And how much does it cost to be a student with
an educational partner?

Well Eric, the course is $395 per module and there are more than
just 3.

But, to start out we do the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
We have a promotion so we will get the software to you for free if
you enroll in all 3 modules. That is a savings of $295 domestic or
$345 international.

AND, the cost of the software goes toward the total cost of the
software after 6 months of use. And it is not a dumbed down trial
version. It is full blown open for as many saves as you can muster.
