As far as the benchtube video for making a square from a hardware
store bracket if you have a brass millimeter gauge you already have
one. Pull the pieces apart and one part is a perfect right angle
square.

And Ivy Says - if you have any kind of calipers, you pretty much
have one too. As Richard said, pull the blades apart and you have
perfect right angles at the top. Credit for this happily given to my
wax carving teacher, Donald Lanzer, who taught us to true our waxes
this way
