Bangle Tangle

The gallery I sell out of has just accepted on my behalf a
commission to make a silver bangle bracelet. It will be made out of
silver wire and won’t have a clasp. Rather than use a bangle sizer,
the gallery took a piece of ribbon from the customer, which is a
measurement of the hand of the girl who will wear it. this doesn’t
seem ideal from my point of view since (a) hands are not round and
(b) ribbons are flexible!

Does anyone know of a formula for converting this measurement into a
bangle size? Would be so grateful -

Christine, When I make bangles I use these numbers as a guide; 7 1/2
inches for a woman’s small, 8 inches for a woman’s large. The
measurement for a bangle should be made around the hand and not the
wrist.
