G’day; I thought the idea of an Orchid users badge was an
excellent idea. But it seems to have sunk without trace, doesn’t
it? I suggested that it be reasonably unobtrusive - about 1" - 1
1/2", and round. Perhaps a small pic of a nicely coloured
cymbidium orchid on a contrasting background and containing the
words “Orchid Jewellery (jewelry!) Forum” or some such and perhaps
the email address. As was originally suggested this could be put on
the Orchid Gallery so that we could download it and print (have it
printed) on adhesive-backed paper. It could be then used to stick
onto one’s name cards at shows, or even on to one’s notes and
letters when appropriate. Now I would have a go at designing it,
but my set-up is of '93 vintage, and I have rather primitive
equipment which couldn’t cope with the requirements. - I know; it
does sound like a "I’ll make the bullets and you fire’em"
get-out-from-under, but unfortunately it is true. Would someone
with a scanner, a plant catalogue and a good graphics program spare
perhaps an hour or so to do it? Cheers,

Hi Folks, As a thank you for all the wonderful yak and tech. I
would be willing to cast up a run of Orchid badges in bronze or
white bronze if someone sent me a model to mold. I don’t care what
Alfonzo Bodoyo says. I could ship them to a location in Tucson or
wherever. If someone gets me an amount to produce and a model
(keep the model modest in size please) pronto, I’ll get on it! Any
takers? It would be helpful if the modelmaker would e-mail or call
me 207-729-3599…J.A.

I was making up some address label size stickers for the folks
who’ve sent me SASE’s and as I’m running a little behind, I’ll be
mailing them directly to their Tucson hotels if I have to.

Meanwhile, John, thanks for narrowing it down to a cymbidium
orchid, but can someone help out with either a pointer to a website
with a good picture, or send me a file with a graphic? I have yet
to find a good sized photo that I can crop, and orchid lovers are
so passionate about their orchids that I can’t find a “generic
cymbidium” sketch.

I’ll try the GIA library tomorrow.

Once I get an image, I’ll be able to clean it up and sufficiently
alter it. (Let’s not steal anyone else’s work, right?)

Why is this list called “orchid” anyway?

Hi, a coworker of mine is an orchid grower (over 700 varieties!!)
and a professional photographer as well as a teacher. Any way I can
help??

Kat…whoa!.. I typed ‘cymbidium orchid’ into my
search vehicle and found MUCH more info than we need, but after a
short (noninclusive) check found a few sites of that might possibly
be helpful:

http://orchid.org/ (this is a graphic but whether or not it’s a
cymbidium ???)
http://home.earthlink.net/~cymbidium/csashow.html (it’s orange, but
it’s large)

Hope this helps! Mollie @marnette
