Hmmm…still trying to find the correct glardon vallarbe micro files for that 5LC100 handpiece…not finding anything, yet, that confirms compatibility…ie: handpiece collet size…micro file shank diameter…

ok, here are some glardon vallarbe micro files on the rio grande website…that says can be used in micro- motor or flexshaft with lapping action in a hammer handpiece…1/8” shaft…

so…it sounds like these micro files work with handpieces that are hammer type…reciprocating…

i have a badeco hammer handpiece, but i did not get the hammer handpiece for my micro motor…i wiuld like to try these files out…

i also have 1/8” quick change collets for my grs handpiece…i wonder if these micro files would work in it…i will call grs…

my research continues…i an thoroughly confused…

new tools…

Julie try Otto Frei. Glardon-Vallorbe Handpiece Files | OttoFrei.com — Otto Frei They also have the ceramic and other Badeco brand files. I have the hammer piece. I hadn’t considered the polishing hand piece. I’ll be following your experiences

Hi!

ok so…shank diameter is 2.85 mm

i have a grs quick change collet with a 1/8” opening (which is 3.175 mm)

hmmm…for $15 bucks each, it would be intetesting to try on my grs gravermax…

i am guessing that for me, the files may be too thick…may need to thinned out…safety edges, etc…

julie

I saved them to my Otto Frei cart after I watched that video and searched all over to find them. I only have the Foredom hammer piece but I’m considering giving these a try.

Hi,

just make sure they will fit…

my badeco hammer handpiece has threaded anvil points…soooo, i dont think they will work with that

julie

where were you when I started this career in 1966? time saved, I could have made more stuff!!!

I bought a series of ceramic points from Gesswein that I use. They fit a 3/32 collet and can be adapted to fit a pneumatic engraver. They also sell a number of pneumatic and electric filers as they have a division that sells to the mold making industry. I have been tempted to driver deeper into these machines, but have resisted so far. Take a look…Rob

Hi,

ok, so…I “think” the micro files with a 1/8” shank will fit in a GRS 18/” Quick Change Collet and can be used with my GRS 901 hand piece…I am going to try this out…i did speak to GRS about this…

of course, this rabbit hole included talk of hammer hand pieces, and now i am coveting a GRS Magnum handpiece, both of which can be used as a hammer handpiece with the proper tips…

There is also a NSK hammer handpiece attachment, that i “think” screws onto my NKS brushless handpiece…buit i think that too has a threaded collet…so…probably a no go…

and as i mentioned earlier, my badeco hammer handpiece (flex shaft) has a threaded collet, so…no go there either….

still researching…

Julie

Hi Rob,

what grits do you use most?

juiie

I haven’t used the ceramic points enough to have a favorite. I use them mainly to clean up the back of a bezel after it is soldered to a bracelet base removing excess solder…Rob

Hi,

ok, so badeco sells a threaded collet that fits on their hammer hand piece.

and which fits up to 3.20mm shafts

so this should hold a 1/8” micro file (3.175mm)

julie

hi,

this badeco threaded collet will also hold ceramic strips…

i am not sure if threading will fit badeco 222 hammer…

it is “sold out” but i wanted to share

julie

Ok, i found the ceramic strip collet…at cookson in UK…

on a related note…there is also this…interesting…i often fold up strips (to the desired stiffness/ thinness) of sandpaper and hand sand…hard to tell how this wide/ thick this attachment is…

i just recieved the badeco 1/8” collet, and a glardon vallarbe bent pillar micro file/ cut 4…very interesting!…i need to test it out in more flat, small, recessed, and hard to reach areas…

julie

Hi,

ok, i think the foredom and badeco hammer handpieces have the same tip threading…so the badeco 1/8” threaded collet should fit the foredom hammer handpiece?

(foredom has so many different handpieces…!)

(i read that the foredom hammer handpiece threaded tips also fit the badeco 222/ 217 hammer handpieces)

(my goal here is to try out the micro files…in a handpiece i already have:rofl::laughing:…instead of having to buy some sort of polishing handpiece…of which there are many!)

(i also found the collet that holds the ceramic strips…the 1/8” collet will hold the ceramic rods…see link in this thread)

julie

i am thinking out loud…

ceramic rods and strips…

i am hoping they can be cut to shorter lengths and shaped…

rods could be angled/ beveled at ends…made narrower…to access small recessed flat areas…think of ironing clothes…rod would operate like…the iron…at the end of your arm…

strips could be shaped/ made narrower, etc…

interesting!

julie

I have done this to the ceramic rods that I bought from Gesswein…Rob

Hi,

FYI, Badeco #260.320 tool holder

per Otto Frei, the set screw uses 1.5mm hex wrench, (which is not included…)

per AI, hex wrenches are measured on the (parallel) flats…not the points

todays fun facts🤣

julie

Hi,

For anyone interested…here is a photo, for scale:

badeco 260.320. 1/8” tool holder

with Glardon Vallarbe micro file-bent pillar- cut 4
1/8” shaft

tip width= approx 1.5mm

tip thickness= aporox .90mm

(shown with 1.50mm hex key for scale,

in a Badeco 222 hammer handpiece

Julie

(i should have clarified in all my above posts that when i said badeco hammer handpiece, i was referring to my badeco 222 heavy spring hammer hand piece that goes on my flexshaft…

i realize that badeco has micromotors as well, with different types of handpieces…hammer, rotary, polisher, etc!

perhaps those newer micromotor handpieces also have tool holders/ adapters that will accomodate the glardon valkarbe micro files with the 1:8” shaft

sorry for this convoluted post!)
