I wil be in the Brisbane area the last part of July, and the first
two weeks of Aug. I am interested in recommended galleries, events
etc. in the arts, design, and of course jewellery/metal arts. I
haven’t been to Australia for 10 years so am not sure what is current

What a pity you won’t be in Brisbane for the big national Australian
jewellery conference!
‘The 2000 Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia Conference
will be held in Brisbane hosted by the Queensland Branch (JMGQ). The
title for the conference is BODY TABLE BUILDING: Sites for Adornment.
The conference theme is ‘A celebration of the diverse nature of
contemporary adornment and metalsmithing’. The Conference will be held
at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University at South Bank,
Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July 2000.’
‘The conference is focussed around a weekend with satellite events
such as exhibition openings Artist Talks and Master Classes planned
for the week prior and the week post. Brisbane Galleries are being
encouraged to plan exhibitions or events featuring metal &/or
jewellery to run concurrently with the conference. A calendar of
conference events is being developed and delegates will be encouraged
to plan their stay in Brisbane to include the extra events.’
