That’s interesting and imaginative.
Wouldn’t an engravers ball with many of its holding attachments do about the same? It is actually a good bit smaller than what an engravers ball can grip, especially with large, bent rod ‘grippers’ for lack of the right word.

The fractal vise is a lot deeper than the attachments for an engravers ball, so it might hold some things better. It would also be quicker and cleaner than using thermo-lock plastics.
Worth keeping in mind for if / when the need arises.
You never know. For a long time I thought oscillating saws were completely useless, a scam. I even called them the useless tool. But once I started doing a home renovation I found it could do things that needed doing that virtually no other tool could accomplish, and do it quickly too. I call it the invaluable tool now. You never know.
