Artists resources

I was bragging about Orchid to an artist friend of mine the other
night about all of the resources that are available to us and she
asked me if I knew of any such resource that was available to
artists (oil & Watercolor). I told her I didn’t know, but I do know
that a number of our members are also involved in other art fields
and may have the answer to that question.

i would appreciate if you have any info that may help to please
contact me.

thanks in advance
Gerry

as far as stores in the nyc metro area most basic artists resources
are found at stores like michaels, a.c.more, higher end supplies at
pearl paint or privately owned stores

she asked me if I knew of any such resource that was available to
artists (oil & Watercolor).

Try ArtCalendar.com and WetCanvas.com, plus any websites of
magazines relevant to her art.

Gerry, somebody else wrote about art stores, then I read your
original post and I gather you mean an Orchid-like place for
painters. There are many… The ones I know of are geared towards
3d computer graphics, because that’s my own interest, but most have
more general topics, too.

http://www.cgsociety.org/ One of the best…

http://tutorialoutpost.com/ Just to throw that out there, too

http://www.drawspace.com/ Online drawing lessons I have yet to take
myself…

If your friend is looking for other than that, I’d suggest going to
the general art forum on CGSociety and saying so - they’ll get
everything they want there. Mostly a site of pro artists…

Wetcanvas.com can be a great resource center for artists. Lots of
areas, monthly and weekly competitions, virtual exhibits, and on-line
classes. I recommend that your friend check that one out.
