Art IS imitation

“The masters” are imitating The One True Master and Creator of
every thing! It makes little difference if you imitate an
imitator or even if you think your abstract art is unique. “The
thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which
is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing
under the sun.” Eccleiastes 1:9 The highest goal an artist can
have is to give Glory to God. Giving glory to one’s self or to
"humanity" is the same as a dog chasing its own tail. “If I have
made gold my hope, or said to the fine gold, Thou art my
confidence; If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and
because my hand had gotten much; If I beheld the sun when it
shined, or the moon walking in brightness; And my heart hath
been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: This
also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should
have denied the God that is above.” Job 31:24-28 I thank God for
the opportunity to work with the wonderful multitude of
materials He has made, and for the opportunity to help so many
fine artists, craftspeople, and imitators. May God bless you all
in this new year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred Ninety Eight.
