Antiquing rings

I am very new to any kind of jewelry work and have no formal
training. I am working on an heirloom ring for my son and have a
question. After I have completed the ring, how can I give it an
antique look? You know, similar to like a class/college ring?

Get an account with Gesswein and order their Black Background
Antique ( 210-1300) Apply and let dry for about 10 minutes, wipe off
excess with a little acetone on a paper towel. Works great for me.
