Antique look for yellow 18K gold

Hi everyone out there…I need help with making the yellow gold
looking like an antique. I use BALCK MAX 331-054 for silver jewelry.
It darkens the deep areas and makes the line of the jewelry more
attractive. I am looking for the same thing for the yellow gold.

Thanks in advance…

Try using Iodine, straight out of the bottle. Still available at
most drug stores.

Thanks for the help. I am new in this. Please let me know do I warm
up the gold or just apply directly …?.

hi, there is actually a very deep dark scientific secret to
antiquing gold. It is called iodine. Don’t laugh, it really works! A
drop, let it sit for a minute or so, rinse and rub it up.

Have fun.

I just put it on cold, after making sure the metal is clean and
grease free. I begins to darken pretty quickly, and fresh
applications darken it further. Higher karat golds are less reactive.
I’ve not tried warming it, but I suppose that would speed up the
reaction.

You might try stuller 54-5030 silver black by Griffith. Acid base
oxidizer which produces deep-black patina on silver, gold, copper or
bronze.
