Antique bracelet repair dilemma

I have a bracelet in for repair, 9kt yellow gold. It is a series of
hollow square beads with rounded edges. There are connectors that
hold the beads together and it is supposed to have spring tension so
after it is put on, it can’t fall off. Appears that time have
affected most of the links that hold the beads together and it is
stretched out and the connectors do not retract back into the bead.
There is no clasp. Has anyone seen anything like this, know how to
restore the spring(s)?
