Amount and Disposal of Ferric Nitrate

This is a two part question on ferric nitrate.

I’d like to do some etching of silver with ferric nitrate. What
suggestions are there for the amounts ferric nitrate to water
(planning on using de-ionized water).

And once done with the etching, is it possible to keep/store the
solution for reuse if stored and sealed in a Tupperware?

And if I wish to dispose of it, what steps do I take from
neutralizing to properly dumping.

Thanks! LC

I mixed my ferric nitrate 1 to 1 with water. I get it in powdered
form from a chemical supplier. I store in either in milk carton jugs
or the heavier (with screw lids) juice containers.

When I lived in the big city I took it to the
metro-toxic-turn-it-in- here place and they took it from me. Now I am
storing it outside till I figure out what to do with it. My rinse
water that has a small amount of ferric nitrate in it I poured on a
tree, as someone told me ferric nitrate is in fertilizer. The tree
has suffered no ill effects from its dousing.
