I wish to share a new discovery with any on Orchid who are
interested in using celtic knotwork designs. A fellow by the name of
Daniel Isdell has created a set of FONTS that are individual pieces
of knots. By typing out a series of letters and numbers and then
changing the font to his Celtic Knot Font and -viola- you have a
knot. This must be seen to be believed. I’ve been creating celtic
knots in a variety of forms for 30 years and I haven’t seen anything
since George Bain that has done so much for bringing the “Work of
Angels” to the masses.
One font is $20, the whole shebang is under $50. You get over a
hundred premade knotwork designs, access to opensource designs,
written permission of use the fonts to create works that you can
sell, tips and tutorials…
Standard disclaimer. I have no affiliation with these folks. Just a
satisfied customer. Part of me mourns the loss of handcreating the
knots, another part rejoices that more and more people can enjoy the
passions of such art. And that I can spend less time drawing and
more time carving. Enjoy.
I had saved this for future reference so I will post it in answer to
the Celtic knot thread. I thought it was really a great way to
produce the patterns.
