Visiting Artist Program

The visiting artist program offers a research opportunity for
individual craftspeople, art guilds and school groups interested in
learning more about the Buyers Market of American Craft and the
wholesale marketplace. The program includes a series of professional
development lectures, a one-on-one portfolio review and mentor
session with a business advisor, and entry into the Buyers Market.

Lectures include Become a PR Pro on Thursday, August 5, 4-5 p.m.;
Juggle Fever: Do You Have What It Takes?, sponsored by the Arts
Business Institute, Friday, August 6, 8-9:30 a.m.; and Licensing and
Design Rights, Saturday, August 7, 8:30-9:30 a.m., with guest
speaker Richard Stim, author of Your Crafts Business: A Legal Guide
(Nolo).

Additional mini-sessions will be held daily at the Artist Resource
Center. Make Your Mark, sponsored by Arch Crown and Postcards that
Pop!, sponsored by PS Print, will walk artists through why and how
to label their artwork and 10 great ways to use one basic, postcard.

The deadline for registering as a visiting artist has been extended
to July 16, 2004. Guilds and schools can request a tour tailored to
their needs. Artists, guilds and schools can register, or ask for more
