"This seemingly rare scene of order and efficiency is the bench, on the south coast of England, where I make master patterns for myself, or more usually for other jewellers (anyone is welcome to contact me about this). In truth this area has to be kept relatively clean to prevent the pewter I use for carving the master patterns from contaminating any precious metals. If you are concerned that a tidy bench is a sure sign of an unkempt mind I can assure you the rest of my work shop looks like a bomb has hit it. "
