A reticulation sliver question

Greetings,

My notes from an etching seminar included the tip that reticulation
silver etches very well…so I tried it. Indeed I did get a nice
crisp etch, however when trying to forge the etched metal (it’s to be
a cuff bracelet) I find the metal is like hardened steel! I have
annealed the piece, but the hardness remains. Any tips on why this
is occurring? I do make reticulated cuff bracelets with this same
metal and it forms just fine, could it be this metal needs to be
heated many times as we do when preparing this type of silver for
reticulation? Thanks for the
help.
