today that they have discontinued the two because then cannot obtain
any from 3M…This is a huge bummer since these two discs are

Hello Gary, I agree on the bummer!! I did get the 3" diameter one
micron disc, so you might check that size out to get the right grit.
Why 3M quite making the small discs is still a question.

Gary, sorry it’s taken me so long. Been offline due to family
illness. I too was disappointed in Rio, so called 3M. They do still
make them and gave me three places to purchase them. Stuller

While working at the 3M products/demonstration tables at the recent
SNAG Conference in St. Petersburg I talked with many attendees about
their use of the 3M Radial Bristle Discs. One problem we discovered
is quite common. Many artists and students were using one disc at
time mounted on their mandrel. These discs are intended to be stacked
together to make a high performance brush. I would suggest for the
9/16" and 3/4" size that stacking six discs together will make the
best performing brush. For the 1" size stacking at least three discs
together is best. Also, when using these high performance brushes a
light touch on the surface of your work piece will bring you the most
satisfactory results and the longest life. The majority of the
artists who had been stacking the discs love using these little
bristle brushes. 3M is proud to support SNAG … see you in Cleveland
next year !!!

Rick, Thanks for all of the that you supplied to those of
us attending the SNAG conference and also thanks to 3M for its
ongoing support of SNAG. Orchid and the Ganoksin Project could also
use 3M’s support.
