I began my interest in lapidary as a geology major in college in 1953 with Mexican precious opal, and I was polishing star sapphires and setting them in gold four years later. Now a retired engineer with more time available, I have finally expanded my lapidary work to include faceting. I am also working to expand my skills in working with gold and silver one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
