I was born in Portland, OR in 1957. I have been a full time bench jeweler since 1975. I apprenticed in a factory and tradeshop while attending the Museum Art School in Portland Oregon. I studied graphic design and sculpture there. I received a full tuition scholarship from the New York Fashion Group for a jewelery design portfolio my second year at the Museum School. I continued to work at Associate Jewelers in Portland through my apprenticeship. I received a journeyman jeweler certificate from the State of Oregon board of Labor at the completion of five years of monitored training. It was during this time I received training from five mastercraftsmen and grew in an environment of trade secret sharing . In 1985 I opened my own one man shop. I specialized in custom made jewelery for the trade. I did all tasks from design to finished piece. In 1988 my design was selected to represent the Americas in the final judging of the DeBeers Diamonds International Contest in London. I continue to work as a one man shop. I have been married to my wife Shannon for 20 years and have three sons. An elder singleton and twins. I like to watch, play, and coach soccer. I played left wing in my youth. I enjoy seeing my children exceed my ablities at their young age. I have been an alpine skier since I was nine and have worked on weekends as a ski patrolman and alpine racing coach. I currenty work occationally at Timberline Lodge, OR. Timberline is a magnificent Mt. Lodge built by the WPA in the 30's and is a federal historic landmark. It is filled with handcrafted furnniture, iron work, weavings, ect. It is a magical place. I have owned, sailed, and raced a 16' Hobie Cat since 1977. The most memorable sail was off the beach at Pacific City, OR. through 5 to 6 foot breaking waves. Hobie's are great surfers and balanced when completely airborne! Where I live it is possible to ski on Mt. Hood on a summer morning and have time to drive to the pacific ocean for dinner and watch the sun set into the sea!
