Hello to Everyone at Ganoksin: I am 57 years young, and have been teaching myself to create wearable art using various mediums for about three years. I first discovered Polymer Clay in 2003 and fell in love with the endless possibilities. That lead to working with wire (Sterling, copper and red brass),when I discovered that the beads I was making needed a more substantial setting than the rather dainty chains that I could buy. I am learning the art of Micro Macrame to showcase some of my larger beads. I recently bought the Filigree wire book from Jeanne Rhodes-Moen, and that led to learning more advanced soldering techniques...... still struggling with this big time... and that's how I found Ganoksin. I have just spent most of this New Year's weekend devouring the advice found on your wonderful site. The kindness of all the people who take the time to respond to questions is incredible. I think I have possibly found some support that is sadly missing in the section of Canada that I live in. It seems to be terribly difficult to connect with other Canadian artists, and there don't seem to be any teachers.... especially for someone just starting out on their own. I am hoping to make some new friends here and perhaps..... dare I dream??... actually realize my goal of having my jewelry well enough accepted to be able to retire early. I could then actually take some formal classes and learn how to do all these things properly. Thank you for being here at a time in my endeavors when I really need the support and advice of those who have done all this before me. Thank you also for having a site like this for people like me. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Sheila
