When I was a kid, my mom bought one of those School Days Memories books, the kind where you insert a photo, record your height and weight, various milestones, etc. for each school year. One line was “What I want to be when I grow up.” In first grade, at age six, I took the initiative to fill out that line – for every year, 1 through 12 – with “Artist.” I did it in pen. To describe her reaction as “upset” when she found out would be mild. She made me erase (or attempt to erase) that answer for all future years.

So I grew up and became a software developer/entrepreneur.

In 2015 I left Silicon Valley, and now spend my time as jeweler and metalsmith in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I’m inspired by a lot of what I see around me here in the Southwest. I love working in sterling silver, particularly with overlay designs.

Anyway, “Artist.”
