After leaving a job as a 3D flight simulator engineer for a military contractor, I went back to school at Central St. Martins in London to train in traditional jewelry design and fabrication. Two apprenticeships and a degree later, I was hired by MOD Jewelry, a fashion jewelry company in Orange County, California. I've been there ever since. I create design documents and CAD prototypes for production. I guess that makes me a Jewelry/CAD Designer. When I joined the company, there wasn't a defined process for taking a pencil sketch and creating a CAD/CAM prototype, so I developed my own.
