I am only a silversmith by hobby. I am a woodworker mostly. I am known locally as a woodcarver and furniture maker. I have done blacksmith work also for the last 15 years or so. I took it up when my children were small as a way to obtain the carving tools that I needed, but someone asked for hinges and it took off from there. I learned the casting of brass to fabricate the hardware missing from antique furniture, but now people come to me for custom work. I find that there is a similarity in the working of different metals. the methods for casting and soldering brass may be used with silver, as can the techniques for hammering iron. While I am no expert in the working of precious metal, I am good at solving problems and innovative with technique.
