I am returning to metalsmithing after a 20 year break. Made beaded jewellery as a child to earn extra money and then trained as a silversmith. Worked as a jewellery designer for a few years before being poached to run a small metalware gift company. Got bored and ended up working for the British Jewellery Association. Marriage, kids etc. Lots of career changes and eventually worked in Adult Education. Loved it. Now I am retired, I’ve moved to the Northumberland coast and I am inspired to create in metal again. My 30 year break has seen lots of changes, new tools, materials, and techniques to learn…I am like a kid in a sweet shop.
