I've been making jewelry for myself for years, but when a multiple family health crisis in 2002 convinced me that something more flexible than my usual 40-60 hour week was called for, I decided to go with the thing I knew best. I supplemented my skills by taking some classes at the local art center and sales took off almost immediately. I began with simple beaded designs and have introduced new skills into my work as I've had the time to learn them. Wire work appeals to me as does Precious Metal Clay. I still have a long way to go in both areas, but I get a few new things under my belt in my January to March period while I'm pounding out new inventory for the summer show season.
