I discovered my love of making jewelry in a most unusual way. Having to wear a medic alert bracelet because of an endocrine deficiency since childhood, I greatly disliked the metal chain because it didn't go with anything in my wardrobe. Nine years ago I began making interchangeable bracelets that attach to the medical tag with beads to coordinate with her wardrobe and people began ordering from her when they noticed hers. I currently use wire, vintage pieces, chain maille, and found objects into one-of-a-kind collectible jewelry. I aim to make "eye candy for the soul". Recently I've learned the relatively new medium of polymer clay using molds and making my own molds for pendants and beads. I also like to make candy dishes and bowls from polymer clay. My favorite thing to do is learn new techniques, make Celtic jewelry from wire and other objects. I also get commissions from relatives of deceased loved ones to renew old costume jewelry for the next generation and that really touches me. >From 203-2005, I made and sold jewelry part time while working for the YMCA on the Gulf Coast until Katrina hit and relocated me to Central Mississippi, living only 15 minutes away from family. Pieces are donated to silent auctions to raise money for my three favorite charities: 600MillionStrayDogsNeedYou (600Dogs.com), The Sierra Club and The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI).; www.suzannamcmahan.com Suzanna McMahan Beauty & Imagination in Jewelry
