For years my primary focus was creating sterling silver jewelry from sheet, wire, and tubing and then inlaying them with semi-precious stones. Over the past few years, I have “expanded” into other areas. In 2005, I completed the Level 1 certification as PMC artisan by the PMC Guild. My “PMC work” includes creating silver settings for stone inlay, including making hollow forms that are then inlaid with stone. Most recently I have been experimenting with different patina solutions to create “colored” pieces without the use of colored stones. I first took silversmithing classes while in high school during the 1970’s. Then silver prices went thru the roof in the late 1970’s, and as a college student I could not afford to continue. In 1995, after many years, I started taking silversmithing and lapidary classes again with Rose Marie Christison in the Denver area. In 1997, I learned to create stone inlay jewelry in Rose Marie’s class at Ghost Ranch in Abiqui, New Mexico. After that experience I decided to start my own jewelry business, so I left the world of “corporate technology training” and SilverWear Jewelry was born. I also enjoy teaching other silversmiths how to create stone inlay jewelry, and hope to teach more. In November 2006, my stone inlay work was featured in Lapidary Journal/Art Jewelry magazine. I wrote the project “Quilt Blocks in Stone” to show other artist’s how to create inlay jewelry. I work from my studios in Morrison, CO and in Ojo Sarco, NM. Future plans include a teaching facility and gallery in New Mexico on the famous mountainous “High Road to Taos”. Samples of my work can be seen online at the “High Road Art Tour” website (www.highroadnewmexico.com). Look for images of my work in the Artist section- #26 and on the Sponsor page. My own website (www.silverwearjewerly.com) will be completed later this year. My work has been shown in galleries in Colorado, New Mexico and Montana, and through private trunk shows. Currently my work is available through the Evergreen Fine Art Gallery in Evergreen, Colorado, and by appointment at my studios in Colorado and New Mexico.
