Hello everyone! I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004 with a BFA in jewelry/metalwork. I have recently relocated to Seattle, and I'm trying to get my metals career off the ground. I'm sure I'll have many questions along the way - at least with purchasing equipment and setting up the business end of things, just for starters! Like most people my work covers a wide range of things; but I find I am continually drawn to hollowware and medium-sized sculpture. (medium-sized, to me, is bigger than jewelry but still managable to hold... vessels, boxes, wall sculpture, etc) I am also interested in larger-scale copper sculpture; I'm currently working on a garden trellis, and hope to do more work with gates, railings, and other functional sculpture. I love working with textures and have a particular love of forged and fold-formed work. Since right now I am facing a sizable commute, I have also taken up chainmaking. Thematically I am interested in metaphysics, spirituality, and feminine expressions of divinity. I also really get excited about work that shows off the technical side of a process and pushes the limits of what metal can do.; -
