Born and raised in the Netherlands. Formally trained as a goldsmith (Vakschool, Schoonhoven) and as a metals conservator (Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage in Amsterdam). After graduation in 2003 I worked for Het Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam and also as a freelance conservator for other museums. Throughout the years I continued to make silverware, jewellery and sculptures. In 2005 I starting at the British Museum as a metals conservator. Since then I have participated in fieldwork with the Syddansk Universitet for the underwater recording of the hull structure of a Tudor shipwreck and with the Butrint Foundation for the conservation of metal objects and coins recently excavated at the site of Butrint, Albania. Overall I have a special interest in silverware and jewellery, Japanese metalwork, underwater archaeology, scientific analysis of materials and historical manufacture techniques.
