It's mysterious. I live in Hawaii, and once had a cheap little
gothic dragon ring ($7 from a farmer's market), sterling silver. The
thing never went black at all when I was wearing it, and I almost
never took it off for about three years...but it developed a
golden-pink sheen in the crevices, which seemed really strange to me.
Not bad-looking, actually, but still strange.
I gave it as a gift to someone (who promptly lost it, and I'm still
a bit grouchy about that), and now the replacement one I bought
myself just does the normal black bit...but barely at all. But it's
not the same design, Chinese dragon instead of gothic, so it's
possible this came from a different manufacturer? I wish I could find
