Chris Hentz will be teaching a version of his “Outrageously Thorough
Soldering Workshop” entitled “Precision Fabrication” at Arrowmont
School of Art and Craft in Gatlinburg, TN.
Dates - June 19 - 25, 2011
Course description - Improve your ability to precisely layout and
systematically fabricate in silver and gold. Develop the skills to
reasonably solve any construction problems previously thought to be
“overwhelming, too complex or too tedious” to do in metal. The first
goal is to be come more efficient in producing an object through the
understanding and creative use of tools, soldering jigs, fabrication
techniques, and a few tricks to make it all easier. The second goal
is to understand how to develop strategies for more complex
fabrication in silver and gold including hinges (normal, hidden and
curved), fasteners and custom clasp construction for jewelry. Open to
