[Workshop] [Hanover NH] Hydraulic Press

One space in 2-day Hydraulic Press workshop in Hanover, NH March 20 &
21

One space has opened up in an upcoming workshop that is a two-day
introduction to the hydraulic press.

CREATIVELY MOVING METAL: FORMING WITH THE HYDRAULIC PRESS Learn to
use Bonny Doon forming tools in the hydraulic press to explore the
design and form possibilities they offer. This two-day workshop will
begin with Hydraulic Press “Anatomy” and Operation, Safety, and
Care. Learn about and understand how take advantage of the various
thicknesses and hardnesses of urethane for effective and creative
embossing and forming. Make bracelets with the delrin anticlastic
forming tool set, and the freeform/synclastic urethane and
restraining rings forming system. Make and use your own embossing and
silhouette dies, and learn methods for split dies and making a
reversible silhouette die to create hollow forms — matching forms
can be soldered together. Learn how to use contained urethane blocks
and mushroom formers.

This workshop is focused on process rather than projects.
Demonstrations will alternate with hands-on work time. Though
participants are encouraged to focus on experimenting, and learning
the processes and techniques, each person will make at least one
bead, and have many samples that could become finished jewelry after
the workshop. Combine hydraulic press forming with surface enrichment
techniques for limitless possibilities! This workshop is appropriate
for students with basic metalsmithing skills as well as
professionals.
