Whaley Studios is proud to announce that the esteemed goldsmith,
Michael David Sturlin will be conducting a hands on Workshop at 3848
Fifth Avenue, Suite A, San Diego.

Forging Fine Silver: Form and Fluency with Hand and Hammer
Michael David Sturlin
February 27th & 28th, 2010 - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The underlying basis for many jewelry objects is an armature or
chassis formed by forging a piece of metal into a sculptural or
decorative element. This is our point of departure for this
intensive applied technique workshop - focusing on transformative
sculpture with the simplest of tools - the goldsmith’s hammer.

This is your opportunity to work alongside a master goldsmith and
cultivate a new range of expression with fine silver as you learn
the subtleties and finesse of hammer on metal. An endless creative
body of work can spring forth from the fundamental principles and
vocabulary you will acquire in this action packed workshop. Develop
a lasting resource for dynamic design through the articulation of
forms suitable for rings, bracelets, earrings, brooches, pendants
and necklaces.
