[Workshop] [DC] Mokume Gane

Eric Burris will be conducting a Mokume Gane workshop at
Jewelryclassdc in Washington, DC on 1/31 - 2/1 2015, 10am - 6pm.
Participants will learn a low tech, low cost, and efficient method to
making traditional Diffusion Bonded Mokume Gane. The entire process
will be demonstrated starting with cleaning the metalsquares, firing
a billet, and making patterned sheet metal. Each participant will
receive a pre-made 16 layer sterling silver/copper billet and
willlearn to make that into patterned sheet metal. Using the washer
method, seamless hollow rings will be made with a sterling seamless
liner.

Eric Burris has been a practicing metalsmith and educator for 15
years, and during most of that time working with the Mokume Gane
technique. His personal work features the patterned sheet metal
combined with wood and other found materials. He currently lives in
Silver Spring, MD with his partner, Gretchen and dog, Carmela.
