The Crucible in Oakland, CA has a separate enameling department and a
complete enameling curriculum (non-credit) from beginning classes to
advanced techniques.
There is also a youth enameling program in the summer. Some classes
are intensives that meet on weekends. Others are weeklong classes
which meet during the day Still others are 5 week classes that meet
once a week for 3 hours on a weekday or weeknight. The enameling
department also sponsors guest instructors to each specialty
workshops. The Crucible has teamed up with the Northern California
Enamel Guild to be able to offer tuition discount for enameling
classes for NCEG members. The Crucible has also teamed up with an
Oakland hotel that offers inexpensive lodging and connections to
public transit near The Crucible.
Winter session at The Crucible will begin next week. One of the
specialty classes we will be offering this session is Grisaille, a
technique that goes back to medieval Limoges France. Please free to
