Work Hardening with a kiln?

Hello again, twice in one week! So I am also looking for some
instruction on hardening my argentium earwires to an appropriate
degree of hardness in my kiln. I have heard that this is a legitimate
technique, but I do not know what temperature and for how long. As
usual, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Nisa

Hello Nisa, I think you’ll find that there’s a good amount of
available on this. Both Cynthia Eid and I, among others,
have written on the subject here at Orchid (search the archives) but
your best bet now is probably argentiumsilver.info, the official
site for Argentium Silver.

At the.info site I see that the precip hardening is in
the “Working with” section under “heat hardening instructions.” It’s
a simple process and can be completed in less than 45 minutes at
modest temperatures.

Have fun,
Trevor F.
