White Quartz Gold Flake and Pietersite

Have a few clients searching a white opaque quartz with natural gold
flakes inside.

Used for inlay. Maybe created? Supposedly mined in Arizona?

Does anyone know anything about this material?

People selling the tourquise and corral in Arizona/New Mexico need
something to beat the competition. Every shop, side by side, is
loaded with the same product.

I have suggested Pietersite, quartz variety, opal like stone from
Africa. Great for inlay. No takers?

Any thoughts?

Ed,

I believe the mine that is best known for this material is called
the 16 to 1 mine in California. I do believe they are still mining
this material. Some years ago there was a source in southern Colorado
that produced a grayish white quartz with gold but I think that mine
is no longer producing the material.

http://www.gympiegold.com.au/gemstone/ This is one possible source
of that material assuming this is what you’re looking for, think it’s
also found in Colorado and a couple other places as well.

stuff in Tucson in Feb!
