Hi. Thanks to all for advice on restoring gold color after
firings. I was wondering where one would purchase hydrochloric
acid (HCI) andsodium or potassium cyanide?

You can purchase those chemicals, and others, from your local
chemical supply company.

hi a chemical supply in any major city. the chemical supplier
where i live (ca) will not ship either type of cyanide due to
state law. it doesn’t take much of this stuff to kill you or
others. please know what you are going to do with it after you
use it. some jewelers supply houses carry it. again pleas know
how to use it and dispose it safely. i get a lot of my chemicals
through chem lab supplies, (714) 630-7902. they have all the
things you asked about.

Kinda hate to say this as it is getting increasingly difficult
to buy some chemicals. Hydrochloric acid is sold at most hardware
stores as muriatic acid. Potassium and sodium cyanides can be
obtained from most jewelers supply houses. Try Gesswein.

Again, try your high school chemistry teacher. They have
chemical supply catalogs such as Nurenburg Scientific. They
might even give or loan you small quantities.
